CYGEN is recruiting a new cohort of young leaders to join the Commonwealth Youth Gender & Equality Network (CYGEN), which champions gender equality issues in local, national, regional, and Commonwealth agendas. As the only gender youth-based organisation within the Commonwealth, CYGEN seeks to improve the position of young people and advocate for increased meaningful youth engagement and participation in existing structures, processes, and governance.
As a network member, you will have the opportunity;
To represent CYGEN, in national, regional, Commonwealth, and international forums on gender equality issues;
Connect as part of an exclusive digital network of youth gender champions;
Engage in workshops, seminars and mentorship programs specifically tailored for CYGEN members;
Participate in research on youth issues from a gender equality perspective;
Provide technical advice on how to integrate youth voices into the development of programmes.
All applicants should meet the following criteria:
Be between the ages of 18 and 29 by 31 December 2024;
Have a proven and verifiable track record of working on gender issues (academic and/or professional);
Have a genuine commitment to combating gender inequality;
Identify strongly with Commonwealth values and the values of CYGEN as expressed in the Gender Agenda.
You must be a citizen of one of the following Commonwealth countries. These countries have been identified as underrepresented nations within CYGEN. A global call will be launched later in the year.
Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Brunei, Cyprus, Dominica, Eswatini, Gabon, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nauru, Namibia, New Zealand, Samoa, Seychelles, Singapore, Solomon Islands, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, United Kingdom and Vanuatu.
